Costco Wine Picks: April 13, 2015

FIND THESE JONES IS THIRSTY-APPROVED GEMS IN THE COSTCO WINE DEPARTMENT:

• 2014 Sofia, Rosé, California $10

(If you’ve followed me for a while, then you know that I LOVE this wine. And at $9.79 this rosé is an insane deal. Really. Sofia typically sells for twice this in most stores. Rich, dry and perfect for warm afternoons around the grill…and particularly tasty when paired with grilled salmon or a grilled vegetable and chicken salad—just sayin’.)

• 2011, TerraNoble, Grand Reserva Carmenère, Chile $15

(WS 91 pt., I’m partial to this wine, I have to admit. For starters, back in 2011, I visited the vineyard where these very grapes were harvested. So there’s a bit of a personal connection. I also think TerraNoble makes terrific wines across the board, and this full-bodied Carmenère is no exception. Grab a big ol’ ribeye steak, kick back and relax.)

 • 2013, Raymond R Collection, Cabernet Sauvignon, California $10

(If you’re looking for a quaffable Cab for under 10 bucks—it’s actually $9.79—then this is your wine. You’ll get plum and raspberry flavors with just a touch of spice and vanilla. This is my pick for grilled burgers or smoked pork should—either way, you can’t go wrong.)
